Ganguly is disappointed not to keep WV Raman as female trainer in India

The split over the removal of WV Raman refused to join the ranks of the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI). There is now information that a body the size of the president of the BCCI has raised the issue internally, expressing disappointment and discontent over Raman's non-compliance as coach of the Indian women's team.

Cricbuzzhas has learned reliably that Sourav Ganguly has formally (by letter) filed an objection to the dismissal of Raman, a former Indian batsman who was not considered for the position by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) and elected Ramesh Povar instead. Ganguly said nothing about Powar's selection, but expressed surprise that the coach who led the team to the final of the global tournament was not held.

It must be said that some high-ranking team members have complained about Raman, but the BCCI president, once a member of the SAS, believes the former Indian opener should be persistent. India qualified for the 2020 Twenty20 World Cup final in Australia, but the team lost to a tough home draw to South Africa in March.

The cricketer participant said Ganguly had to respect the decisions of the CAC (including Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik) and their functional autonomy. "He should know that the SAS is an independent body," said a BCCI insider familiar with women's cricket.

Transfer contracts for female players

Meanwhile, there was dissatisfaction at BCCI with the main assignment given to women playing cricket. BCCI recently announced contracts for 19 players with three (Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Poonam Yadav) in Class A, while Mithali Raj, the oldest player, remains in Class B with Shafali Verma. This created some discontent at BCCI, but Ganguly said he was comfortable with the election. "The voters broke (the contract) and I'm okay with what they did," the BCCI president told Cricbuzz. However, he was tight-lipped about selecting a CAC coach.
