In Abu Dhabi there is no entry without vaccination: PSL 6 faces another hurdle

The Pakistani Super League (PSL) ran into an unexpected hurdle when the Abu Dhabi government refused permission for those who were not vaccinated. This is key in the planning of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which sees the unfinished Pakistan Super League 6 in Abu Dhabi in June. There are 20 matches remaining to be played June 1 to June 20.

PCB has even arranged several charter flights - one from Lahore and one from Karachi - to transport PSL players and staff on May 22. All PCBs are also vaccinated in Pakistan. After the necessary quarantine, PSL can resume on 1 June.

However, the PCB plan met with unexpected resistance from the Abu Dhabi government, which insisted that anyone entering the city / state should be vaccinated. The circuit board claims it has no control over foreign technicians and television crews flying there from various countries including India.

PCB then met with the Emirates Cricket Board and of course gave the Emirates Board 24 hours to sort things out. At the same time, officials on the Pakistan board explained the development of six PSL franchises. All parties then agreed to wait 24 hours.

PCB confirms these developments. "The Pakistan Cricket Board and six franchisees held a virtual meeting today (19 May) to discuss operational planning and implementation of the remaining 20 PSL matches, which are scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates from June 1 to 20. Analyze all potential scenarios, by voice. "it was unanimously agreed to wait for work to be completed by Thursday (UAE time) before making the final decision to host the remaining games," said a PCB statement late on Wednesday.

"In today's online discussion, we informed the team owner that PCB has been notified that the PSL has been approved by the relevant authorities in the UAE. Some clarifications await some requests for permits expected around Thursday.

"The team owners agree that if we don't get any clarity by Thursday afternoon they will have no choice but to ask for the postponement of the remaining 20 games. In the meantime, we will continue to work closely with the UAE and the Emirates Cricket Council as they are both excited. about the UAE event, "said Wassim Khan, Executive Director of PCB.

One of the options being researched was moving from PSL to Dubai, which was not previously considered due to the high cost factor.
